Six of Marc Márquez’s eight world titles are presently held by the MotoGP driver. As a result, he needs “just” one more victory to tie Valentino Rossi’s record. Up until 2019, it seems like this will happen eventually.
However, Márquez’s path to nine titles has become more difficult due to the physical issues that plagued the Spaniard between 2020 and 2022, Honda’s declining competitiveness, and the emergence of new talent with a lot of promise.

Giacomo Agostini holds the record for the most world titles ever—15—eight of which he won in the 500cc, the top class at the time. With 13 titles (none in 500cc), Ángel Nieto comes next, followed by Rossi, Mike Hailwood, and Carlo Ubbiali, who has nine total (Ubbiali never won a championship in the premier class). With eight titles, Márquez is sixth in the standings (six in MotoGP).
