REPORTS:Stefon Diggs Trade Sends Shockwaves Through Super Bowl Betting Lines as…

Many people think the Houston Texans, who surprised the NFL with their playoff run the previous season, will be much better in 2024 after adding star wide receiver Stephon Diggs. They might even be considered a serious contender for the championship by some.

In a blockbuster trade on Tuesday, Diggs was sent from the Buffalo Bills to the Texans. The majority of sportsbooks drastically changed Houston’s odds to win the Super Bowl the following season almost immediately after the transaction.

Online sportsbook BetOnline.ag had the Texans at 22/1 (or +2200) to win Super Bowl LIX before the Diggs deal. As soon as word spread that Diggs had been shipped to Houston, those odds swiftly changed to 10/1 (or +1000).

By the numbers, the Texans were considered a fringe playoff club before they signed Diggs. They were ranked as having the third-best chance of any club to win the championship the following season as of Wednesday afternoon, behind only the San Francisco 49ers and the defending AFC and NFC champion Kansas City Chiefs.

The notable change was presumably mostly caused by gamblers swarming to wager on the Texans to win the Super Bowl. In the upcoming days and weeks, there’s a strong possibility that the odds will change. It is arguable that Josh Allen and the Bills failed to win a championship while having Diggs, so there’s no reason to think Houston will suddenly emerge as a dominant force in the AFC.

Diggs has been among the NFL’s top wide receivers for several years; this much is undeniable. Leading wide receiver Nico Collins and quarterback CJ Stroud spearheaded the Texans’ already formidable offense. They are undoubtedly making every effort to position themselves for a successful postseason run, as seen by the Pro Bowl running back they signed this offseason.
