Breaking News : Another Gators top player commits transfer deal to Kansas city

Riley Kugel, a former guard for Florida, decided to commit to Kansas a few days after declaring he was going to transfer. The 6-foot-5 sophomore posted a statement on Instagram on Sunday announcing his choice. Kugel played in 33 games (11 starts) last season, averaging 9.2 points and 3.5 rebounds while shooting 39.4% from the field. However, in December, he lost his starting position. He did not play in the SEC tournament semifinals or championship game. The final saw the Gators fall to Auburn after defeating Texas A&M in the semifinals. Kugel did participate in Florida’s NCAA Tournament opening-round loss to Colorado, 102–100. In 21 minutes, he finished with 11 points, 4 rebounds, and 3 steals. Kugel played in 32 games (17 starts) in 2022–2023 and averaged 9.9 points, 2.8 rebounds, and 45.6 percent of the field. During the season’s final ten games, he averaged 17.3 points, good for SEC All-Freshman status.
