The spouse of a former Philadelphia Eagles player has announced their pregnancy

Colton Underwood, a former player for the Philadelphia Eagles and a candidate on “The Bachelor,” is no longer single.

He made the announcement that he and Jordan Brown, his boyfriend, were getting married last year.

He also made another significant revelation this week: he and Brown are expecting a child.

People was informed by Underwood, 32, that he and Brown, 38, are expecting their first child together through surrogacy. October is when the boy baby is expected.

Underwood said to People, “That was one of the things we bonded over early in our relationship.” Both of us aspired to be fathers. However, going through this together has been such an amazing experience, and I can’t wait to see Jordan become a father.

According to Underwood, Brown and he struggled with infertility and were overjoyed when their surrogate eventually revealed she was expecting a child, as People reported.

We’re living a good time right now, he remarked. I thought it was so remarkable that our doctor actually allowed our surrogate to inform us. We were so relieved when she texted us to let us know the good news, I believe. Not only are we incredibly happy to have her, but it was also remarkable that she made us feel like a part of it too.

“Everyone is thrilled,” he continued. “My family is particularly aware of my long-standing desire to become a father and my coming-out experience. For a long time, I was in the closet because of my desire to become a father. Therefore, it’s incredibly significant and emotional for me to be able to announce that we’re expecting.

In 2014, Underwood was an undrafted free agent fresh out of Illinois State. That season, the 6-foot-3, 254-pound defensive end was briefly a member of the Philadelphia Eagles practice squad before signing a contract with the San Diego Chargers. 2015 and 2016 saw him play for the Raiders as well.

After playing in the NFL, Underwood made guest appearances on “The Bachelorette” for the fourteenth season and on “The Bachelor” for the twenty-third season.

In a 2021 interview with Robin Roberts for “Good Morning America,” Underwood came out as gay. He told “Variety” that he never intended to come out as gay, but that he did so in response to being “blackmailed” by someone claiming to have taken pictures of him in the nude at a spa that was well-known for serving gay patrons.
