SIEGEL ANNOUNCES MULTI-YEAR AGREEMENT WITH ARROW MCLAREN

Nolan Siegel has signed a multi-year deal with Arrow McLaren and will contest the remainder of 2024 IndyCar season.

The team’s No. 6 Chevrolet will be driven by the 19-year-old commencing with this weekend’s race at Laguna Seca.

Nolan Siegel has signed a multi-year contract with Arrow McLaren, effective from this weekend’s IndyCar Series race at Laguna Seca.

Siegel, a 19-year-old native of California, just won the 24 Hours of Le Mans in the LMP2 class while racing for United Autosports, the team that McLaren CEO Zak Brown owns.

The reigning Formula 2 champion Theʁo Pourchaire, who was announced just this month as the team’s driver to race the remainder of the 2024 season, save for the Indianapolis 500, will give way to Siegel in the No. 6 Arrow McLaren Chevrolet. The 20-year-old Frenchman was first used as a stand-in while David Malukas, who was later cut by the team and signed with Meyer Shank Racing, healed from a surgery-related preseason injury…

According to Arrow McLaren Team Principal Gavin Ward, “stability and sustained growth are key to our long-term game plan here,” and this is a critical step in that quest.

I would first like to express my gratitude to Théo for taking the time to assist us in the last few weeks with the No. 6 automobile. We’ve been playing musical chairs the entire season, but in the end, switching to Nolan now that he’s available allows us to lay the groundwork for what lies ahead. At this point in his career, he is a young, skilled driver with a ton of experience, and we are eager to keep moving forward together.”

Siegel will operate the entry “for the 10 remaining races this season and 2025 and beyond,” per the team’s press release.

He will miss the remainder of his sophomore season in Indy NXT with HMD Motorsports, where he finished fourth in the championship standings, in order to take on the role with Arrow McLaren.

During the 2023 season, Siegel’s varied driving resume also included LMP2 triumphs in the Six Hours of The Glen and Petit Le Mans with CrowdStrike Racing. Later in the season, he assisted Inter Europol Competition in winning an LMP2 in the Asian Le Mans Series.

A year of ups and downs for Siegel

Siegel made his debut at the non-points exhibition at The Thermal Club with Dale Coyne Racing in March of this year, giving him an early taste of the IndyCar Series. Additionally, he drove for the team in Long Beach, where he finished in a career-best 20th place. However, a go-for-broke effort that resulted in an accident in the Indianapolis 500 qualifying round prevented him from entering the field of 33.

Siegel withdrew from his Indianapolis NXT race in the previous round at Road America after being given the chance to replace Agustin Canapino at Juncos Hollinger Racing.

The 2023 Indy NXT Rookie of the Year, Siegel, stated, “I’m looking forward to jumping right in with the Arrow McLaren team this week and confirming my place in the NTT IndyCar Series in papaya moving forward.”

“I’m excited to be in this position after a rewarding run with HMD Motorsports in the Indy NXT by Firestone series, even though this jump wasn’t expected.” This coming weekend in my home state, I am excited to embark on this new trip and learn with the complete team.
