Charlie Woods qualified for next month’s U.S. Junior Amateur at Oakland Hills, Michigan

Charlie Woods has won once again.

The teenage son of 15-time major winner Tiger Woods shot a 1-under 71 to win the U.S. Junior Amateur Qualifier on Wednesday.

Seventy-five golfers from around the world gathered at Eagle Trace Golf Club in Coral Springs, but it will be Woods who enters the U.S. Junior Amateur Championship as the medalist.

Woods, who won his first high school golf state title in November, has a little more than a month before he travels to Oakland Hills Country Club in Michigan, where the event will be held from July 22 to 27.

If Woods seeks an exemption into the 2025 U.S. Open at Oakmont, he must make the cut from a 264-player field of the world’s best golfers under the age of 19. If he finishes in the top 64 in match play on Oakland Hills’ South Course, Woods will qualify for his first major championship.

His last try to qualify for the US Open was in April at the Legacy Golf & Tennis Club in Port St. Lucie. Woods fired a 9-over 81.

More Palm Beach County golfers will join Charlie Woods in Michigan.
Woods won Wednesday’s qualification by a single stroke. However, he was not the only Palm Beach County junior golfer that topped the scoreboard.

Matthew Marigliano, 13, of Palm Beach Gardens, will also travel to Michigan for qualifying after finishing second with a par-72. Tristan Wieland, a senior at Jupiter High, shot 1-over 73 to tie for third place.

Alexander Weinberg of Boca Raton finished sixth (74) as the second alternate.

Meanwhile, Oxbridge Academy’s Hampton Beebe and Woods’ Benjamin School teammate Brooks Colton both shot two over to tie for sixth.
