PGA Tour commentator ripped over ‘lying’ about new LIV Golf innovation

Regarding new drone tracer technology, golf enthusiasts think the PGA Tour has plagiarized LIV Golf’s research in their most recent live broadcast.

During its live broadcast at the Travelers Championship, PGA Tour analyst Frank Nobilo came under fire from golf enthusiasts for allegedly “lying” about new drone tracer technology.

The most recent advancement in golf technology was referred to be “never been done TV” by CBS pundit Nobilo, a former champion of the PGA Tour, during the third round of the $20 million marquee tournament at TPC River Highlands.

The only technology employed thus far is drone tracer.

In reality, I’ve been on LIV Golf for the last nine months.

Drone tracer technology was introduced by the Saudi-backed breakaway league at Trump National Doral back in October 2023.

awkward.

The PGA Tour tweeted on X/Twitter, “LIVE drone tracer/” with an emoji of eyes while eventual runner-up Tom Kim thrashed away with his tee shot.

The technology was employed in the weekend broadcast in a few distinct ways.

Drone tracer technology not only displays the side-on trajectory of the golf ball but also its carry distance and peak.

Several devoted golf enthusiasts promptly informed the PGA Tour and Nobilo about their most recent verbal blunder.

“Imagine saying this lie knowing the truth and how easy it is to disprove,” a supporter wrote on Twitter.

“LIV completed this nine months ago; invention and emulation are perfectly acceptable. Just don’t tell lies.”

Someone else said: “Yeah… the LIV Golf League has been doing this for almost a year already.”

Another stated: “The PGA Tour copying LIV Golf drone tracer after nine months and calling it a first is hilarious.”

CEO of LIV Golf Greg Norman once acknowledged that the PGA Tour had “copied our homework” after it became apparent that the circuit was increasing reserve money for no-cut, limited-field events.

At the Travelers Championship, Scottie Scheffler defeated Tom Kim in a playoff match to win his sixth PGA Tour title in as many starts.

It was his twelfth career victory.

When XR protestors stormed the 18th green, the tournament’s final phases were ruined. Situated in the last group with Scheffler and Kim, Akshay Bhatia confessed to being’scared for my life’.

With this victory, Scheffler became the first golfer to win six times in a PGA Tour season since Tiger Woods in 2009.

In addition, the dominant World No. 1 has broken what many considered to be Woods’ 2000 “unbreakable” OWGR record.

This week, the PGA Tour travels to the Rocket Mortgage Classic, which Rickie Fowler won the previous year.

At 12/1, Kim is the pre-tournament favorite.

Undoubtedly, more live drone tracing technology—first employed by LIV Golf—will be available.
