Alcaraz and Tiafoe to Face Off in Special Exhibition Event in Charlotte

Carlos Alcaraz and Frances Tiafoe are set to headline an exciting exhibition match scheduled for December at the inaugural Charlotte Invitational.

Taking place on December 6, 2024, at the Spectrum Center, the event promises a showcase of top-tier talent from both the ATP and WTA Tours.

Among the featured matchups, fans can anticipate a thrilling rematch of the 2017 US Open final between Sloane Stephens and Madison Keys in the women’s segment. Meanwhile, in the men’s division, the spotlight will be on a rematch of their epic 2022 US Open semi-final clash, where Alcaraz made history by becoming the youngest man to achieve world No. 1 status. His showdown against Tiafoe promises to deliver another memorable encounter on the courts of Charlotte.

The Charlotte Invitational comes on the heels of the city’s bid to host the Western & Southern Open, an effort that ultimately remained in Cincinnati. Nonetheless, Danny Morrison, executive director of the Charlotte Sports Foundation, expressed confidence in the Invitational’s appeal, having successfully attracted some of the globe’s top tennis talents.

Alcaraz, undoubtedly one of the event’s biggest draws, looks forward to extending his season slightly to showcase his tennis prowess to Charlotte’s enthusiastic fans, who will have the opportunity to witness his skills firsthand during this exciting tennis event.
