Former NFL Executive Predicts Tua Tagovailoa’s Potential New Contract

Despite losing in the Wild Card round of the 2024 NFL Playoffs to the Kansas City Chiefs, the Miami Dolphins remain strong Super Bowl contenders for the upcoming season.

Under head coach Mike McDaniel, the Dolphins boast one of the most dynamic and creative offenses in the league. This offensive prowess keeps them competitive against any team. The wide receiver duo of Tyreek Hill and Jaylen Waddle is the fastest in the NFL, complemented by running backs Raheem Mostert and De’Von Achane, who excel at dissecting opposing defenses.

The team’s offense became even more formidable with the addition of Odell Beckham Jr. in free agency, enhancing their passing game significantly.

Tua Tagovailoa had a standout year in the 2023 NFL season, positioning him for a substantial contract extension. Former NFL general manager Rick Spielman, speaking on SiriusXM NFL Radio, predicted that Tagovailoa could command over $50 million annually on his new deal, considering the increasing salary cap and recent quarterback contracts.

Spielman stated, “But as all these contracts come in, and they continue to go up every year, Tua’s going to get paid nearly $55 million.”

While the figure may initially seem high, the NFL’s rising salary cap makes it more feasible. For instance, Trevor Lawrence’s recent contract with the Jacksonville Jaguars falls within a similar range, suggesting Tagovailoa could secure a comparable deal soon.

After overcoming a shaky start to his NFL career, Tagovailoa has silenced many of his critics. It will be fascinating to see how much further he can elevate his performance in the coming seasons.
