Arne Slot is in contact over signing £35m player who is faster than Darwin Nunez

Arne Slot has not yet brought on a new player for Liverpool.

Slot hasn’t made any moves in the transfer market since taking over as the Reds’ new manager one month ago.

But with the market open and Liverpool in need of reinforcements, it could not be too long until we see the first new player arrive at Anfield in this new era.

The first player Slot signs at Anfield will likely be a fellow citizen; this will likely happen in the upcoming weeks.

Bild reports that Arne Slot has been in contact with Bayer Leverkusen at Euro 2024 regarding a possible transfer for Jeremie Frimpong, who might leave the team this summer for €40 million (£35 million).

With 14 goals and seven assists from a wing-back position last season, Frimpong was one of Leverkusen’s best performers.

As a fellow Dutchman, Slot should be familiar with Frimpong, and at under £35 million, the young player might be a real steal for the Reds.

If a new right-back was Liverpool’s first summer acquisition, that would be strange.

Given that Trent Alexander-Arnold has filled that job for a considerable amount of time, the Reds are quite comfortable there.

But as Liverpool supporters are aware, Alexander-Arnold has always desired a position in the midfield.

The England international might be able to make the permanent transfer to the middle of the park if Frimpong enters the game.

Based on the statistics provided by The Speeds Database and the Bundesliga, it appears that Jeremie Frimpong is even faster than Darwin Nunez. This implies that Slot may be planning to switch up his approach.

In fact, Slot’s interest in a full-back with greater speed suggests he wants to completely alter Alexander-Arnold’s role and style of play on the right flank.
