Joe Brady snubbed from notable PFF list thanks to Bills’ interesting offseason

This season, the youthful offensive coordinator has the opportunity to make an impression.

The offensive coordinator the Buffalo Bills had under Ken Dorsey was not as good as it was when Joe Brady took over as interim head coach in the middle of the season. Following a strong three-week run from Week 2 to Week 5, the Bills’ offense was terrible. There’s nothing else to say. Josh Allen and the offense appeared feeble as they had trouble pounding the ball in or even getting into the red zone. The Bills went into a slump starting in Week 5 because the offense was primarily focused on delivering the ball to Stefon Diggs, and Allen appeared to be trying to force the big plays.

Following a defeat to the Denver Broncos in Week 10, the Bills fired offensive coordinator Mike Dorsey and appointed Joe Brady as the team’s temporary leader. Under Brady, a fresh look offense was developed. The Allen-to-Diggs show has changed. Rather, Bills supporters witnessed players like Ty Johnson, James Cook, Khalil Shakir, and Dalton Kincaid become more involved in the offense. Under Brady, Buffalo’s rushing game flourished, averaging 150 yards per contest, but the pass game saw some declines. But the fact that the Bills are winning without Allen having to step up to the plate indicates that Brady is relieving his star quarterback of some of the strain. After Brady took over as head coach, the Bills only lost twice, the first being a high-scoring game.

As of 2024, Brady is the official offensive coordinator. He has the opportunity to advance in his career and possibly land a position as head coach.

Eight NFL coordinators have been identified by Pro Football Focus’s Bradley Locker as potential key players for their teams in 2024. Maybe it’s because we’ve already seen what Brady can accomplish in his role as offensive coordinator for the Bills, but it’s incorrect that Locker left Brady off this list.
In place of Stefon Diggs and Gabe Davis, Buffalo will now have Keon Coleman, Shakir, Marquez Valdes-Scantling, Chase Claypool, and Curtis Samuel. Although it appears to be a downgrade on paper, what happens on the field is what counts. Who knows?

Brady faces an uphill struggle this season because the Bills have an almost all new receiving room; but, Brady’s system-experienced teammates Shakir and Kincaid are back. Josh Allen’s play will allow Brady to continue improving this offense even though there is a lot of uncertainty around Buffalo’s offensive. Consider it this way: Brady will get interest as a head coach for the upcoming season if he can lead this offense to new heights with Allen and his supporting group.
