Report: Damion Lee signing a one-year contract to return to the Suns

Adrian Wojnarowski of ESPN reports that Damion Lee will return to the Phoenix Suns on a one-year contract, but he did not exercise his $2.8 million player option for the 2024–25 campaign.
In addition to Devin Booker, Bradley Beal, and Grayson Allen, Lee would provide the Suns some more depth at shooting guard if he can fully recover. He might take over for Eric Gordon, who went to play for the Philadelphia 76ers the previous season.

With one roster slot remaining, he raises the total number of players under contract and known signings to 14.

After sustaining a right meniscus injury over the offseason that necessitated surgery, Lee missed the whole 2023–24 season.

Damion Lee originally joined the Phoenix Suns for the 2022-23 season, where he averaged 8.2 points on 44.2% shooting, including an impressive 44.5% from three-point range over 74 games (five starts). He also contributed three rebounds and 1.3 assists in 20.4 minutes per game.

In the following offseason, Lee and the Suns agreed on a new contract that included a player option.

Lee began his NBA career with the Atlanta Hawks as an undrafted rookie from Louisville in 2016. During the 2017-18 season, he played 15 games (11 starts) under current Suns head coach Mike Budenholzer. Lee signed two 10-day contracts before securing a deal for the remainder of the season, where he averaged 10.7 points, 4.7 rebounds, 1.9 assists, and 1.3 steals in 26.9 minutes per game with Atlanta.

After Budenholzer moved to coach the Milwaukee Bucks, Lee signed a two-way contract with the Golden State Warriors. He eventually secured a multi-year deal with them in 2020. From 2018 to 2022, Lee played in 201 games for the Warriors, averaging 8.1 points, 3.4 rebounds, and 1.4 assists in 20.6 minutes per game during the regular season.
