Manchester United’s plans for Jadon Sancho return to Carrington next week

Jadon Sancho’s loan from Manchester United to Borussia Dortmund ended in January, and the preseason is quickly approaching.

Jadon Sancho is expected to report to Manchester United’s preseason training on Monday.

Since manager Erik ten Hag expelled him from the club in September, Sancho, 24, has not trained with the first team. It is unknown if he will take part in the senior squad’s practices the following week.

According to United sources, Sancho is valued at approximately £40 million and is open to transfers. In 2021, United paid £72.9 million for Sancho.

Due to poor training results, Ten Hag claimed he left Sancho out of the matchday squad for the 3-1 loss against Arsenal on September 3. Sancho immediately accused the Dutchman of lying in a tweet that was made public on his X, formerly Twitter, page.

After refusing to accept responsibility for his outburst, Sancho was moved to the academy building’s locker room at United’s Carrington training base.

Because under-18s were also there, the winger had to change for training in a secured room for security concerns.

On July 24, United departs for their three-match preseason tour in the United States; however, on July 15, they play a friendly match against Rosenborg in Trondheim.

Sancho returned to Borussia Dortmund on loan in January, advancing the German team to the Champions League final before Real Madrid defeated them 2-0.

Dortmund is willing to keep Sancho for the upcoming season after paying United a loan fee of €7.5 million to re-sign him.

Sancho’s last game for United was on August 26, when they defeated Nottingham Forest 3-2. Sancho wrote: “Please don’t believe everything you read,” following Ten Hag’s explanation of his absence from the Emirates Stadium. I won’t put up with people making up stories that are wholly false. I’ve behaved myself admirably during this week’s training.

“I believe there are other reasons for this matter that I won’t go into, I’ve been a scapegoat for a long time which isn’t fair!”

In June 2021, The Manchester Evening News reported that Sancho’s lack of playing time for England at the European Championship was partly due to his poor training performance.
