The top four players with the best five-set Grand Slam win rates: Carlos Alcaraz boosts his record at Wimbledon

Carlos Alcaraz enhanced his remarkable record in five-set matches by securing his 12th career victory in such contests at the 2024 Wimbledon Championships.

The three-time Grand Slam winner defeated world No. 29 Frances Tiafoe 5-7, 6-2, 4-6, 7-6(2), 6-2 in an exhilarating third-round encounter at Wimbledon.

With this win, Alcaraz improved his five-set match record to an impressive 12-1, boasting the highest win rate of any man in Grand Slam matches that go to a deciding set.

After his victory over Tiafoe at the All England Club, the 21-year-old Spaniard discussed his exceptional five-set performance.

“In the fifth set, I believe my tennis and level improve,” the world No. 3 stated during his post-match press conference. “I feel great physically, which helps me play more calmly than my opponent.

“I feel much better than the opponent both physically and mentally. I know the other guy has to play at a very high level and intensity in the fifth set if he wants to beat me. That helps me manage those challenging situations in the fifth set much better.”
