Travis Kelce displays his real colors during a golf game after hitting a fan with a shot

Travis Kelce’s golf game may need some refinement, as evidenced by an incident at the American Century Championship where the Kansas City Chiefs tight end accidentally hit a spectator with a wayward shot. Despite being a superstar on the football field, Kelce’s golf skills proved to be a bit off target during this star-studded tournament. Displaying his trademark good nature, Kelce immediately checked on the fan he struck, demonstrating genuine concern and compassion.

The mishap occurred on the 16th hole when Kelce’s errant ball struck a bystander in the crowd, which included notable figures like Buffalo Bills’ Josh Allen, actor Don Cheadle, WWE legend The Miz, and Stanley Cup winner Matthew Tkachuk. Footage of the incident showed police officers comforting the injured spectator, gathering their details, and assessing the need for medical assistance. Kelce, unable to simply move on, sought out the fan to offer a personal apology.

In a heartwarming display, the two-time Super Bowl champion found the injured fan, kissed their injured arm, and gently massaged the area before continuing his round. Fortunately, the fan appeared to be unharmed by the incident.

The event sparked a wave of humorous reactions from onlookers and fans, including supporters of Kelce’s girlfriend, Taylor Swift. One fan humorously remarked on social media platform X, “Goal for next year… position myself so that I can be hit by Travis’s golf ball.” Another commented, “Travis can hit me with a golf ball anytime.” A third fan joked about Kelce’s golf abilities, saying, “How good can Travis possibly be at golf if he’s hitting fans in the first place?”

After the first round of the tournament, Kelce was tied for 62nd out of 90 participants with a score of -2. The American Century Championship features a unique scoring system that differs from traditional PGA Tour events, awarding points based on performance for each hole. For instance, an albatross (three under par) earns 10 points, with points decreasing by two per stroke down to a double bogey, which deducts two points.

This format ensures that players cannot score worse than a double bogey, preventing any disastrous holes from completely ruining their chances. The player with the highest score after three rounds wins the title, allowing all celebrity participants to potentially shine during the televised event.

With a substantial $750,000 prize pool, the competition is intense. The winner will take home $150,000, second place will receive $70,000, and third place will earn $40,000.
