Dolphins start rookie minicamp with two roster changes

Rookie minicamp for the Miami Dolphins’ class of 2024 was opened at Miami Gardens on Tuesday afternoon. Not much is revealed on the first day as it is often used for physicals, testing, and other requirements. If a player or players fail their physicals, the team will typically make an announcement.

Regretfully, the following roster changes were made by the team on Tuesday:::

The events of Tuesday resulted in safety Mark Perry and wide receiver Tahj Washington being placed on the physically unable to perform list, citing the team’s official website.

Undrafted out of TCU, Perry finished his college career with 142 tackles, six pass breakups, and one forced fumble. His injury was added to the list of active non-football injuries.

One player who was also added to the PUP list was someone I had a lot of respect for and had discussed extensively on Another Dolphins Podcast. I am referring to Tahj Washington. The former USC wide receiver was chosen in the seventh round of the 2024 NFL Draft, 241st overall. He started 30 of the 39 games he played in college, hauling in 163 receptions for 2,449 yards and 15 touchdowns.

Both players expected to contend for a spot on the 53-man roster, but it appeared like practice squad duty would be their likely fate. In any case, the PUP list will be where both players begin the 2024 campaign.

list of current and non-football injuries

The illness or injury did not develop during NFL practices, games, or events approved by the team. Until they receive a medical clearance, players on the active/NFI list are not permitted to practice with the squad. They are still able to participate in non-physical team activities like attending meetings. A player may be placed on the reserve/NFI list, which entails missing a minimum of six weeks, if they are still on the list when the regular season begins.

Active or incapable of doing list

The player’s injury occurred prior to the commencement of training camp. The player must be placed on the reserve/PUP list and miss at least the first six weeks of the regular season if they are still on the PUP list at the beginning of the regular season. Players’ salaries will be deducted from the team’s cap.
