BREAKING NEWS: Williams and Holder return to champions Royals for next season

For this year’s Women’s Caribbean Premier League (WCPL), the international duo of Rashada Williams and Trishan Holder has been drafted back into the lineup of the reigning champion Barbados Royals.

Holder, a 20-year-old rising Barbadian hitter who participated in her final nine Twenty20 Internationals for the West Indies Women in February of last year, and Williams, the Jamaican wicketkeeper-batsman for the West Indies Women, were selected in the WCPL Draft on Tuesday.

The Barbados all-rounder Naijanni Cumberbatch was also selected by the Royals, as was the international trio of Shabika Gajnabi, Cherry Ann Fraser, and Djenaba Joseph, who were a part of the Guyana Amazon Warriors the previous season.

To complete their roster, the Amazon Warriors have selected five Guyanese draft picks, staying close to home.

In addition to Jamaican pacer Kate Wilmott, they are Ashmini Munisar, Sheneta Grimmond, Realeanna Grimmond, Kaysia Schultz, and Nyia Latchmann.

The Trinbago Knight Riders made five selections during the Draft to round up their roster. They had already signed Australians Meg Lanning and Jess Jonnasen and Indians Jemimah Rodrigues and Shikha Pandey earlier this month.

They also acquired all-rounder Cheaden Nation, Shunelle Sawh and Jannillea Glasgow, and retired internationals Kyshona Knight, an off-spinner, and Kyshona Knight.

August 21–29 is when the three-team competition takes place at the Brian Lara Cricket Academy in Trinidad and Tobago.
