Game Preview: The Suns play the Kings to end the Summer League

Will the group autograph the yearbooks of one another? “I hope your summer vacations are safe and enjoyable!”

This July, it’s been fun to watch the Phoenix Suns in the Summer League. Yes, they were cumbersome to start, much like an 88 Accord with a timing belt problem. However, as the games have developed, so too have the character development, continuity, and skill demonstration.

Excitement is in the air as we watch young players like Boo Buie, Isaiah Wong, and Michael Devoe put on outstanding performances ahead of the G League season, which is scheduled to start in November. Scouts and fans have been captivated by their remarkable performances over the first four games in Las Vegas, which have also contributed to a captivating storyline for the Summer League action.

Their last run of the summer, game number five, is scheduled for today at noon. My suggestion? Take a seat and enjoy the basketball game. Since it’s the final one we won’t see for a while (not including the Olympics).

Things to Keep an Eye Out for
Dunn and Ighodaro are draft picks that we’ll keep an eye on, but Isaiah Wong has truly emerged when given the opportunity. I’ll need to put together a little something for him. Wong, selected by the Indiana Pacers with the 55th pick overall in 2023, has played in just four minutes of NBA action. If nothing else, the Suns should be able to integrate him into their scheme because he is a tough competitor and a persistent scorer. I don’t want to be correct if it’s wrong.

There is one remaining two-way spot available for Phoenix, thus the Summer League championship game will be a high-stakes competition for that coveted spot. The players should put in unprecedented levels of intensity on the court as they assess their alternatives, giving it their all to earn a spot in the organization.

Or perhaps it’s simply another game. James Jones’ tendency to cling to those two-way positions is well known.

Forecast
Here at Bright Side, we’ve been making predictions lately. Two games ago, I made the prediction that Ryan Dunn will make his first three-pointer, and he did. And yesterday, Brandon declared the team’s 15-point triumph!

Let’s try to make it three straight. Alright. Boo Buie finishes the game with 21 points and 4 assists as the Suns win. Why not? Now let’s move!
