Dallas moved Josh Green to the Charlotte Hornets as part of the sign-and-trade agreement. Since the trade deadline, Charlotte has had their eye on Green, and this summer, they were able to add the youthful guard to their core.
Even though Green showed so much promise with his effort, enthusiasm, and 3-point shooting, losing him is painful since it made room for a freshly signed guard to join the Mavs.
Quentin Grimes, who Dallas acquired last month from the Detroit Pistons in exchange for Tim Hardaway Jr. and three second-round picks, has the potential to be a bigger role player than most people realize.
Grimes shot 37.2 percent from the field and averaged 7.0 points, 2.0 rebounds, and 1.3 assists per game in the previous campaign. Despite the fact that those figures don’t leap off the page, he has the opportunity to play Green exactly.
Grimes has the potential to be a better shooter than Green was in Dallas, despite the fact that shooting percentages don’t reflect it. Playing next to Luka Doncic will provide Grimes excellent looks. He can shoot off the dribble and takes harder shots than Green.
