Without a doubt, one of the NFC teams with a real shot at winning the Super Bowl is the Philadelphia Eagles. Their most recent Big Game appearance was in Super Bowl LVII, where they fell to the Kansas City Chiefs as the NFC representative. They are still regarded as one of the NFC’s top teams in spite of the defeat.
But like every NFL team, the Eagles have a lot of challenges ahead of them that they must conquer to be successful. Even though they began the previous season 10-1, they lost five of their final six games and fell to the Dallas Cowboys in the NFC East. In the Wild Card round, the Tampa Bay Buccaneers completely destroyed them.
It goes without saying that they must overcome a number of external obstacles before 2024 if they are to prevent another catastrophe. Their quest for a Super Bowl comeback, though, may be derailed by an inside dispute.
Quarterback Jalen Hurts and head coach Nick Sirianni of the Philadelphia Eagles don’t communicate well.
Dianna Russini of The Athletic recently reported that quarterback Jalen Hurts and head coach Nick Sirianni are very different people. It appears that there has been considerable conflict and perhaps some aggressive struggles between the two because of their differences:
“Jalen Hurts and Nick Sirianni were not fighting when we saw them on the sidelines. However, there is unquestionably a personality difference. To put it how I see it, the relationship is still developing. Because of their different personalities, there was a mismatch between them last year. We’ve seen that Nick is an extremely sensitive man. Jalen is a really personal person. It’s okay that they are different types of people. While you don’t all have to be the same, you must all agree on what your offensive strategy will be.
Hurts is not very fond of Russini’s observation, made shortly after this, that Sirianni is what one may term a conservative play caller.
Hurts had a solid rapport with offensive coordinator Brian Johnson, according to her sources as well. Eagles supporters may remember that Johnson was let go following the 2023 campaign and subsequently signed a contract with the Washington Commanders.
It was Sirianni, not Johnson, who called the offense, according to Russini. Although the head coach likes a run-first offensive approach, she notes that last year’s opponents were prepared for it. Hurts was eager to try more passing plays, particularly in the end zone, but Sirianni was unwilling to change course.

Hurts is among the best of the franchise quarterbacks in terms of quality. With just six interceptions in 2022, he threw for 3,701 yards and 22 touchdowns, good for second place in the NFL MVP vote. In addition, he ran for 13 more touchdowns and 760 yards.
Following his incredible season, the Eagles gave him a big five-year contract for $51 million annually, making him one of the best paid players in the NFL.
Hurts was a two-time Pro Bowler last season after throwing for 3,858 yards, 23 touchdowns, and 15 interceptions. He added 15 touchdowns on the ground as well.
Stated differently, Philadelphia has committed to a productive quarterback for the long haul. Sirianni might be searching for a new job if he can’t figure out how to win with him.
