Justin Rose’s caddie sums up how everyone feels about Open champ Xander Schauffele

The caddy of Justin Rose Following Xander Schauffele’s dominance in winning The Open at Royal Troon, Mark “Fooch” Fulcher has rendered his decision.

Soon after Xander Schauffele won the year’s last men’s major, Justin Rose’s caddie Mark “Fooch” Fulcher responded in a lighthearted manner.

In the end, Schauffele finished two ahead of the popular favorite Rose after blazing around Royal Troon on Sunday to win The Open.

More than ten years after winning the 2013 U.S. Open at Merion, the well-liked Englishman was looking to add an improbable second major championship to his CV.

Rose, 43, was the talk of the box office every day of the week and had to qualify for The Open.

However, Schauffele proved to be too strong in the end and has since won two major titles.

After 72 holes, he finished on 9-under thanks to a final round score of 6-under 65.

Fulcher said, “He’s quite nice,” to a gathering of reporters including NLU’s Kevin Van Vulkenburg.

“We’d love it if he was a bit of a w—-r but instead he’s top class.”

For the most of his career, Fulcher caddied for Rose, and the two had great success together before parting ways.

Last year, at the biennial event, they were reunited.

“I was so strong out there today”

Rose said that he experienced two different feelings after leaving the course.

He and American Billy Horschel tied for second place.

“It [the disappointment] hit me hard because I was so strong out there today,” he stated.

“I kind of had the start I had hoped for. Today, I truly played how I wanted to.

“I started off strongly. I successfully gained entry to the tournament ahead of schedule.

“I was at ease with it the entire day. On the golf course today, I performed a lot of the difficult tasks pretty well.”

Rose claimed he had no remorse despite the near-miss.

“That’s the deal I made with myself today to come off with no regrets,” Rose stated.

You are aware that this is a fantastic opportunity for me today, but naturally, yes, I will have a few more opportunities.

“You want to be able to say, “Yeah, I didn’t waste that,” as you leave the golf course.

Today, I attempted putts at the hole. I believe I had my chances. I thought I had taken quite a few.

“Yet, I felt extremely at ease there, and it gives me great heart because I haven’t really been in the running for anything this year.

Rose said of Schauffele, “He’s such a chill guy out there.”

“I have no idea how he’s feeling, but he sure gives the impression that everything is easy.

As a competitor, you can infer from the way he plays that he’s probably not feeling too much of the negative stuff.

“He’s got a lot of runway ahead and a lot of exciting stuff ahead, I’m sure.”
