Carlos Alcaraz and Rafael Nadal ask for fan help ahead of Olympics link-up

Rafael Nadal and Carlos Alcaraz are getting ready to compete together in Paris in 2024.
Carlos Alcaraz has requested that his Instagram followers come up with names for him and Rafael Nadal’s tennis partner for the 2024 Olympic Games. This summer, the defending French Open champion will make his dream come true by competing for a gold medal at Roland Garros against his idol, Rafael Nadal.

In an attempt to add to his amazing honors at the age of 21, Alcaraz will compete in the tennis tournament in Paris starting on Saturday, July 27 and lasting until August 4.

His fourth Grand Slam victory came earlier this month when he defeated seven-time champion Novak Djokovic in straight sets at Wimbledon for the second time in a row.

Following his incredible triumph at SW19 last summer, Alcaraz won his first French Open early in 2022 and his first major championship at the US Open the following year.

With Rafael Nadal at his side, he now has his sights set on an Olympic gold medal. He asked his Instagram followers what the team’s moniker should be.

Alcaraz posed the following question after posting a picture of the two grinning together on the Roland Garros court while wearing matching Spanish Olympic jackets: “What should this doubles pair be called?”

At the Nordea Open last week, Nadal practiced doubles play with Norway’s Casper Ruud. The pair advanced to the semifinals before Nadal made the tough decision to quit.

Not because of an injury, but rather because of his progress to the Bastad singles final, which he lost to Nuno Borges of Portugal 3-6 2-6.

Together with Ruud, he had a fun campaign, and the two of them became known as ‘Ruudal,’ a mash-up of their last names.

After years of fans referring to him and one of his biggest opponents and closest peers, Roger Federer, as “Fedal,” Rafael Nadal is no stranger to shared nicknames.

Despite the fact that Nadal is nearing the end of his career and Alcaraz is clearly in the lead, the former has stated that he will follow the 22-time Grand Slam winner’s lead in Paris.

Alcaraz responded, “Not much,” when questioned by ABC Sports about how much he had discussed the Olympics with Nadal before leaving for Paris. We’re doing our thing, and he’s doing his too.

We don’t talk much, but when the Games come around, we’ll talk about doubles and most importantly, how we’re going to play. I’m not anxious at the moment. I shall be there when the time comes.

Indeed, it’s evident that he has already gone through this. He’s already competed in the Olympics and won gold in both the singles and doubles competitions.

“I’m fresh. Since I’m new to this, I have to listen to him and keep my mouth shut.”
