Max Verstappen onboard footage has now emerged of his crash with Lewis Hamilton – it’s damning

A new video of Max Verstappen and Lewis Hamilton’s crash at the Hungary Grand Prix this past weekend has surfaced. The Dutchman and the Brit collided at turn one on lap 63 of 70 while battling for third place on the grid; a new onboard video captures the dangerous move from the world champion’s perspective.

The video, which shows a sharper picture of the collision between the Red Bull and the Mercedes, was taken from Verstappen’s car’s onboard cockpit. With just seven laps remaining, the three-time world champion, desperate for a podium finish, dove into turn one to try to pass his former fierce rival. Throughout the race, the reigning champion became frustrated with the FIA and team orders, so he made a desperate attempt to score crucial points.

But the daring move caused the Dutchman to lock up his front wheels, severing Hamilton’s turn, and causing the two cars to collide, sending the Red Bull’s back end skyrocketing.

Luckily, both cars were able to move forward. But the Drivers’ Championship leader eliminated himself from the running for a podium result at the Hungoraring after the incident, finishing fifth behind Charles Leclerc’s Ferrari.

Verstappen declined to take responsibility for the incident after the race, but the onboard video does not look good for him. Nevertheless, after the race, the stewards declined to give the Red Bull driver a time penalty.

Unrest during the Hungary Grand Prix
The decisions made by the team did not impress Verstappen or Norris.

After both McLaren drivers, the Dutchman lined up third on the starting grid for the race. Verstappen tried to get around teammate Lando Norris when Oscar Piastri took the lead, but he ran wide and off the track in his attempt. Furious over his radio, Norris was requesting that he be put back in second place following an unauthorized overtake. The Dutchman was equally incensed that he had been unfairly forced off the track. Reluctantly handing back the spot to the British player, the three-time world champion was not satisfied with the ruling.

Verstappen was incensed as he had to battle his way back to fourth place with little time remaining due to more strategic mistakes made by the Red Bull paddock throughout the race, when the driver was outclassed by both Hamilton and Leclerc. His desperate attempt to pass the seven-time world champion and reclaim third place was the result of this frustration, and it ended in a crash.

Supporters Blast Verstappen for Hungary Grand Prix Incident
In response to this fresh video, users on the subreddit r/formula1 have been ridiculing the Dutchman for his rash and frantic driving in an absurd way. After comparing the move to one from a video game, a person said, “I do this all the time in Gran Turismo, it’s fine.” Jokes about Verstappen’s driving reminiscent of video games ensued.

“He turned damage down to low”, “This is how I drive in the F1 game”, and “That’s the strategy I use, hit the other car to slow down and make the corner” I’m not very skilled.
