Miami Dolphins Quarterback Tua Tagovailoa Has Message Regarding his Massive Contract Extension

The NFL world received some anticipated, albeit long-awaited, news today. Tua Tagovailoa, the Miami Dolphins quarterback, has agreed to the richest contract in franchise history: a four-year, $212.4 million agreement. With an average salary of $53.1 million, he is the NFL’s third-highest paid quarterback, trailing only Trevor Lawrence of the Jacksonville Jaguars and Joe Burrow of the Cincinnati Bengals, who both earn $55 million per season.

Tagovailoa’s contract is also somewhat more profitable than Jared Goff’s four-year, $212 million agreement with the Detroit Lions earlier this offseason.

The NFL is anticipating contract extensions for Jordan Love (Green Bay Packers) and Dak Prescott (Dallas Cowboys). Miami Dolphins quarterback Tua Tagovailoa has a message for fans following his massive deal extensions.

“What is up, guys? Tua here, with some breaking news for you, even though I never break any news. This is a first for me.

“I just wanted to let you know that I have agreed to a contract extension with the Miami Dolphins. I just wanted to offer a big shout out to Mr. Ross. I’d want to thank Chris Greer and Brandon Shore for their tireless work on this agreement. I want to thank Mike McDaniel for believing in me. I want to thank all of my other coaches as well.

“I’d also like to thank my teammates for believing in me and for their support during this process, as well as the fans.

“Fins up!”

As can be seen, Tagovailoa is extremely grateful to everyone who helped make this contract a reality.

Since taking over as the Dolphins’ starting quarterback, it was evident that Tagovailoa was something unique. In his rookie season of 2020, Tagovailoa appeared in ten games (nine starts) and completed 64.1% of his passes for 1,814 yards, 11 touchdowns, five interceptions, and an 87.3 passer rating.

In 2021, he started 12 games and completed 67.8% of quarterback passes for 2,653 yards, 16 touchdowns, and ten interceptions.

Tagovailoa plagued with concussions in 2022, but he still started 13 games and led the NFL in passing rating with 105.5.
