Philadelphia Phillies Lose Out on a Desired Trade Partner

The Philadelphia Phillies have already made a number of trade deadline acquisitions to strengthen their roster going into the second half of the season.

After signing Carlos Estevez, reports have suggested that they’re still looking for a bullpen pitcher, which makes sense considering their current circumstances. But according to ESPN’s Jeff Passan, the Phillies barely missed out on their #1 target when left-handed reliever Tanner Scott was traded to the San Diego Padres.

Medical evaluation is still waiting on the agreement.

For the previous few months, Scott has been linked to Philadelphia, which made complete sense. Given that he’s perhaps the best bullpen arm in baseball this year, he would have provided their bullpen with much-needed assistance.
