What Marquez Valdes-Scantling thinks of Bills is revealed in the report

After signing with the Buffalo Bills this offseason, Marquez Valdes-Scantling moved from one of the top teams in the AFC to another, but he may have to resume his job search in the upcoming weeks.

Valdes-Scantling has “faded into the background” during the first part of the Bills training camp, according to Joe Buscaglia of The Athletic. The 29-year-old wide receiver is thought to be on the roster bubble since he hasn’t demonstrated a good bond with Josh Allen.

Mack Hollins, rookie Keon Coleman, Khalil Shakir, and Curtis Samuel seem to be the Bills’ top four wide receivers. There’s a chance to take the fifth spot, but it seems like Chase Claypool, another free agent signee, has outperformed MVS. Despite Claypool’s toe injury that kept him out of practice this week, Valdes-Scantling was observed working with the second and third teams’ offense.

Tyrell Shavers, a second-year wide receiver, is a more adaptable player, according to Buscaglia, and he may end up ahead of Valdes-Scantling on the preseason depth chart.

The Kansas City Chiefs were where Valdes-Scantling played for the previous two seasons. In 2022, he recorded a career-high 42 catches for 687 yards. The 29-year-old played in just 16 games last season, hauling in just 21 receptions for 315 yards.

While Valdes-Scantling performed admirably for the Chiefs in the postseason, the Bills may have preferred to nurture a guy with greater potential.
