After Rasmus Hojlund’s injury setback, Erik ten Hag decides on his main transfer target right away

When Erik ten Hag discovered how serious Rasmus Hojlund’s injury was, he chose a different transfer target.

Manchester United had hoped to overcome their injury problems from 2023–24, but they had already suffered two serious setbacks.

Leny Yoro, a recent addition, and Rasmus Hojlund were both substituted during last week’s 2-1 friendly loss to Arsenal, and both will likely be out for extended periods of time.

Yoro, who was playing for the team for the first time after joining for £52 million from Lille, is anticipated to miss three months due to a foot injury.

After a mixed first season at Old Trafford, Hojlund will miss four to six weeks due to a hamstring issue.

In an attempt to relieve Hojlund of the strike weight, United signed Joshua Zirkzee from Bologna last week; but, as of right now, the Dutchman remains the only available striker in the team.

Ten Hag, the United manager, supposedly wants to add a striker to complement Zirkzee, and he is certain about who he wants.

The Telegraph claims that United is considering a deal for Ivan Toney, an attacker for Brentford.

The 28-year-old is nearing the end of his Bees contract, and after being connected to United, Tottenham, and Arsenal, it is believed that he is eager to leave.

If United continues to use their present strike options, Marcus Rashford may play centrally, as he has in the past.

Due to a potential injury, both the Englishman and winger Antony were substituted from United’s 3-2 victory over Real Betis on Wednesday in San Diego.

Following a double injury blow to Manchester United, Erik ten Hag has updated the team on Leny Yoro’s status.

Man United lost 2-1 against Arsenal in Inglewood, Los Angeles, on Saturday night as they began their preseason preparations.

At the SoFi Stadium, Rasmus Hojlund gave United the early lead, but Gabriel Jesus quickly leveled the score for Mikel Arteta’s team.

After halftime, Ten Hag made some changes, but United faltered and Gabriel Martinelli eventually scored the game’s winning goal.

Although the final score doesn’t really matter for United, the injuries that studs Leny Yoro and Hojlund sustained could end up costing much more.

After awarding United the lead in the 16th minute, Hojlund was substituted due to what appeared to be a muscular ailment. When questioned by media following the game, he responded with a “we’ll see” response.

Yoro, who recently signed a £52 million contract with Lille, was taken off shortly after the half-hour mark and appeared to be uncomfortable following extensive treatment.

Less than three weeks remain before the Premier League season begins, and although the 18-year-old defender impressed on his United debut against Rangers after turning down Real Madrid to transfer to Old Trafford, United supporters will be worried about his fitness.

With the start of the new Premier League season in only two weeks, Ten Hag will be worried given the uncertainty surrounding both of their severity.

Ten Hag, the United manager, put on a brave face and downplayed concerns when asked to provide injury updates on the two players.

Naturally, it is too soon to learn about their injuries, and we will need to wait more than a day before learning more.

We used caution, particularly with Leny Yoro, who participated in barely half of the training sessions. Although it is regrettable that he had to leave, let’s remain optimistic and watch what transpires.”

Now, on Thursday, United will go to the Snapdragon Stadium in San Diego to play Real Betis before hosting Liverpool in South Carolina the following weekend.
