Rafael Nadal says he might not go back to Roland Garros after leaving the 2024 Summer Olympics in Paris

Following their elimination from the men’s doubles at the Olympics on Wednesday, Rafael Nadal acknowledged that he might have played his last match at Roland Garros alongside Carlos Alcaraz.

After captivating spectators in their opening two matches, Rafael Nadal and Alejandro Alcaraz, also known as “Nadalcaraz,” have emerged as the primary talking points of the Paris Games tennis competition.

However, they were defeated by Grand Slam-winning doubles specialists Krajicek and Ram in the round of eight.

A statue honoring Rafael Nadal, the 14-time winner of the French Open, is located at Roland Garros.

But due to a string of ailments, the 38-year-old has fallen to 161 in the world and is often questioned about his future.

He declared that he would decide on his future following the Olympics, following his heartbreaking loss to Novak Djokovic in the Paris singles competition.

He uttered, “Maybe, I don’t know.” For me, it was an experience I will never forget, even if it is the final time.

“They have shown me love and support each and every moment I have been on the court.”

It’s really, really special to me to sense that, especially here. I honestly don’t know how to express my gratitude to each and every one of them for bringing out the emotions in me and making me feel the sentiments they do.

In addition, he hinted that he would skip this year’s US Open, which he has won four times.

He said, “It looks difficult to me, but I need some time.”

Being a member of the Spanish squad in the Paris Games, according to Nadal, who won Olympic gold in doubles eight years later in Rio and gold in singles in Beijing in 2008.

He remarked, “It was disappointing for me personally to not bring back a medal for Spain, but that’s it.”

“We weren’t able to meet our goals, despite my best efforts during every minute I was on the court.”

He added that there was a special place for the Olympics in the sporting calendar.

“To be honest, the emotions and feelings you experience during an Olympic Games are hard to compare to other events because here you feel like you’re a part of something bigger than just your own team,” he remarked.

That feeling is incredible. It’s the hardest event to win since you only get a few opportunities in your career, so I consider myself extremely fortunate to have won a gold in singles. It is the reality.

“It was not possible this time, but that’s it,” he continued. We made an effort, and the Olympic Games are without a doubt the biggest sporting event in my opinion.

At the young age of 21, Alcaraz has already won four Grand Slam titles. He is now ranked second and has advanced to the men’s singles quarterfinals.
