Andy Murray demands that all grand slams alter after the US Open’s “total mess”

Andy Murray is still very much involved in the tennis scene, despite having retired earlier this summer.
Murray experienced ‘goosebumps’ over Dan Evans at the US Open, after the two had played together in the Olympics.
Following his retirement, Murray appears to be dabbling with sports other than tennis.
However, he remains a devotee of the sport to which he dedicated so much time and effort, having won three Grand Slams before retiring following the Olympics.
Murray certainly wants the best for the sport and its current stars, but he is dissatisfied with the current circumstances.
Angry Andy Murray calls for Grand Slam overhaul. The tennis star has now urged for a change in the schedule, notably the late finishes that have become commonplace at the current US Open.
Murray posted on X, tagging the US Open, Australian Open, Wimbledon, French Open, ATP Tour, WTA Tour, and ITF: “The tennis schedule situation is a complete nightmare. Matches taking place at 2, 3, and 4 a.m. appear amateurish. Sort things out.”
Aryna Sabalenka and Novak Djokovic give their thoughts on late-night US Open matches.
The current stars of the ATP and WTA tours are likely to agree with Murray, with Aryna Sabalenka among those who have expressed scheduling problems.
Sabalenka was startled to finish at 2 a.m. against Ekaterina Alexandrova in the third round, after the duo had previously played at Arthur Ashe Stadium.
Novak Djokovic wanted to start and end earlier at night before his US Open exit, yet the Serbian recognized that spectators may prefer matches that continue past midnight.
Tennis organisers have faced criticism for more than just match timing, with Iga Swiatek calling the season ‘too long’.
Many ATP and WTA players have had to withdraw from key tournaments in 2024 owing to injuries, which are common given the high volume of matches and events contested.
