Azerbaijan Grand Prix results in Max Verstappen being under investigation and the race ends in mayhem

Max Verstappen will be sent to the stewards due to a misdemeanor at the Azerbaijan Grand Prix.

At the Azerbaijan Grand Prix, Max Verstappen was the subject of an investigation about a purported virtual safety car infraction. The Red Bull star was given an official warning following a thorough assessment, but he avoided a post-race time penalty.

Following a collision between Carlos Sainz and Sergio Perez on the penultimate lap of the race, the Dutchman was placed in P5. But the same incident that cost him two places could also prove to be his downfall.

The race stewards took notice of Verstappen’s passing of cars after the checkered flag in nearly safety car conditions and opened an inquiry. After discussing the incident with the stewards, the 26-year-old was finally given a warning for his actions.
The 26-year-old, who was thanking the McLaren and Mercedes drivers, stopped alongside title challenger Lando Norris and George Russell of Mercedes, according to on-board film from his RB20.

The three-time world champion has had a forgettable weekend overall. Despite having the chance to recover some points when Norris was eliminated in the first heat, he came in one spot behind the McLaren star.

Comparatively speaking, Verstappen was lagging behind teammate and Baku specialist Perez in terms of pace. Before he collided with Sainz, the Mexican was headed for his first podium in 12 Grands Prix.

Regretfully, Perez’s efforts proved to be insignificant in their Constructors’ Championship struggle for the Dutchman and Red Bull team. This gives McLaren a 20-point lead going into the Singapore Grand Prix the following weekend.

Oscar Piastri led McLaren’s assault in Baku, winning the race for the second time in his career. He beamingly said, “It definitely goes down as one of the better races of my career,” following the checkered flag.

“We were practically last when I joined the team last year, and now we’re leading the world championship,” the player said. The team deserves praise for the improvement they brought about in the last 18 months, and they have also made me better. It’s a tremendous team effort, and I’m looking forward to what lies ahead.”
