Roger Federer explains why he should apologize to Carlos Alcaraz in this week’s Laver Cup

Without a question, Carlos Alcaraz will be the focal point of Bjorn Borg’s Team Europe at the 2024 Laver Cup in Germany.

While Roger Federer is in Berlin for the Laver Cup, Alcaraz is unquestionably the competition’s present and even future.

The Spaniard is coming to Berlin out of form, but he has already won two Grand Slams this season at Wimbledon and the French Open.

That being said, Borg needs him to pull out the stops this week, and he is more than capable of doing so when it counts.

The captain of Team World, John McEnroe, can rely on players like Frances Tiafoe and Taylor Fritz, who were semifinalists at the US Open, as they aim to win the Laver Cup three times in a row.

At the Laver Cup, Roger Federer wishes to apologize to Carlos Alcaraz.

Federer, a three-time Laver Cup winner, will surely be closely following the action; the Swiss legend is especially happy about Alcaraz’s participation.

Federer stated on the Laver Cup website, “I’m really excited to see Carlos Alcaraz play for the very first time because I barely know him.”

“I only worked out with him once at Wimbledon when he was still a junior. My coach asked me if I wanted to warm up with him again the following day.” and I responded, “No, it’s okay, I’d rather warm up with Juan Carlos Ferrero, his coach, who was my generation.” This week, I can apologize to Carlos.

Roger Federer predicts the Team Europe Laver Cup singles.

Alcaraz is likely to accept Federer’s apologies, and the former will win Wimbledon without having to train with the latter.

With the Spaniard having won two championships and the Swiss having won a record eight, both players are aware of what it takes to win at the All England Club.

Now, all eyes will be on Alcaraz as he and the other top-10 players Grigor Dimitrov, Daniil Medvedev, Casper Ruud, and Alexander Zverev attempt to win the Laver Cup for Team Europe.

Despite dropping in the world rankings behind Zverev, the four-time Grand Slam winner Spaniard is still maybe his team’s best player.

This week at the Laver Cup, Federer will support Team Europe in the singles, while Stefanos Tsitsipas completes Borg’s lineup.
