Green Bay Packers rookie offensive lineman Jordan Morgan will miss the remainder of the 2024 NFL season due to a recurring right shoulder injury. The 25th overall pick in the 2024 draft, Morgan has been sidelined since November 16 and underwent surgery on his shoulder, as reported by Matt Schneidman of The Athletic.

Morgan’s shoulder issues began during training camp, preventing him from securing the starting right guard position. He aggravated the injury in Week 2, missing three games, and after starting in Week 9 against the Detroit Lions, he suffered a third setback during a practice on November 14. This latest injury has kept him out of action since then.

Throughout the season, Morgan appeared in six games, starting once, and played a total of 186 snaps, primarily rotating with Sean Rhyan at right guard. With Morgan’s absence, the Packers will rely on Andre Dillard, Kadeem Telfort, Travis Glover, and Jacob Monk as their primary offensive line backups for the remainder of the season.

Looking ahead, the Packers have four of their five preferred offensive line starters under contract for the 2025 season, with the exception of center Josh Myers. Offensive tackles Rasheed Walker and Zach Tom are both performing well, which may lead Morgan, who played mostly left tackle in college, to compete for a starting interior position next year.

Morgan’s injury is a significant setback for the Packers’ offensive line depth, but the team will need to adapt and utilize their remaining resources to maintain performance as the season progresses.

After returning to start against the Detroit Lions in Week 9, Morgan suffered a third shoulder injury during a practice on November 14, which has kept him out since.

Head coach Matt LaFleur confirmed the severity of Morgan’s condition, stating, “Yeah, he’s done for the year.”

With Morgan’s absence, the Packers will rely on Andre Dillard, Kadeem Telfort, Travis Glover, and Jacob Monk as the primary backups along the offensive line for the remainder of the season. Monk, a fifth-round pick, has been a healthy scratch for the last four games.

Looking ahead, the Packers have four of their five preferred starters along the offensive line under contract for the next season, with the exception being center Josh Myers. Offensive tackles Rasheed Walker and Zach Tom are both having strong seasons, making it possible that Morgan—who played mostly left tackle in college—will need to compete for a starting job on the interior again in 2025.

Morgan’s injury underscores the unpredictable nature of the NFL season and the critical importance of depth on the offensive line. The Packers will need to adapt to his absence and evaluate their roster to ensure the line remains effective as the season progresses.
