Guard Re-Signed to Two-Way Contract by Dallas Mavericks Following G-League Domination

The Dallas Mavericks have utilized one of their two-way contract slots by signing a promising young guard from Arizona. This move comes amidst a busy offseason for the Mavericks, who recently bolstered their roster with acquisitions such as Klay Thompson and Naji Marshall in free agency, leaving them with one remaining roster spot to fill. As they deliberate over this final addition, the Mavericks have turned their attention to securing their two-way contracts.

Brandon Williams, who previously signed a two-way deal with the team last December, has been re-signed. During the past season, Williams showcased his scoring prowess with an average of 24.1 points per game over seven appearances for the Mavericks’ G-League affiliate. He also contributed 3.2 points per game in limited NBA action across 17 games.

Williams, a product of Arizona’s college basketball program and undrafted in the 2021 NBA Draft, has honed his skills through stints with various G-League teams, including the Westchester Knicks, College Park Skyhawks, and Osceola Magic. His standout performance at the G-League Showcase for Osceola, where he averaged 22.4 points per game, caught the Mavericks’ attention. Notably, Williams previously played alongside current Maverick A.J. Lawson during his time with College Park.

A two-way contract offers players like Williams the opportunity to split their time between the NBA and the G-League, with limitations on the number of days they can spend in the NBA. This arrangement allows teams to closely monitor and develop young talent within their system.
