Kyrie Irving Gets a Broken Hand Repaired Surgically

The Mavericks star Kyrie Irving will likely miss the start of the 2024–2025 NBA season after undergoing surgery on Tuesday to fix a broken left hand.

Early this month, during training, the eight-time All-Star had an injury that was revealed by the team.

According to ESPN, there is still optimism that he can heal in time for the NBA season to begin, even though it is less than three months away.

Sources expressed hope that Irving will recuperate in time to take part in training camp in around two and a half months, even though the Mavericks did not specify a timeline for him to be cleared to resume basketball activities, according to ESPN.

Kyrie made the most of his first full season with the Mavs, playing in 58 games and averaging 25.6 points, five rebounds, and 5.2 assists on 49.7/41.1/90.5 shooting splits.

The 32-year-old was essential to the Mavericks’ journey to the NBA Finals.
But in the Finals, he performed worse. During those five games, he shot 41.4 percent from the field overall and 27.6 percent from behind the arc, averaging 19.8 points and five assists.

Since Irving is said to have had a hand in bringing Golden State icon Klay Thompson to Dallas during the offseason, he has been rather busy.

Thompson undoubtedly made the transition because he is expected to start for the Mavericks as a small forward in 2024–25.

This week, while making an appearance on the Pat McAfee Show, NBA source Shams Charania announced that Thompson will be a “guaranteed starter” and receive “guaranteed minutes” with the Mavericks.

Having Irving, Thompson, and Luka Doncic on the Mavericks might prove to be a winning mix.
