Jannik Sinner’s condition has improved following his heartbreaking Paris 2024 experience, but questions about Carlos Alcaraz and company still exist

I felt ill after a productive week of clay training. After a few days of recuperation, I went to the doctor, who diagnosed me with tonsillitis and strongly encouraged me not to play.

“It is really disappointing for me to miss the Games because that was one of my main objectives for this season.”

After arriving in Montreal for the ATP Masters 1000 tournament and hitting the practice court again, the defending Australian Open champion looks to be fully recovered.

He posted, “Good to start hitting again and looking forward to building from here.”

The top-seeded player in the world, Novak Djokovic, has already withdrew from the competition while still competing at Roland Garros. Other notable players still in the draw include Tommy Paul, Carlos Alcaraz, Alexander Zverev, and Stefanos Tsitsipas.

Additionally, players have extremely limited time to prepare for their first rounds on the clay surface of the Paris Games compared to the outdoor hard court of the Canadian Open.

The main draw begins on August 6 and the top eight seeds will advance to the second round, so those players who choose to compete won’t have much time to prepare.

Sinner, Alcaraz, Zverev, Grigor Dimitrov, Daniil Medvedev, De Minaur, Andrey Rublev, and Casper Ruud are currently expected to be the top eight seeds.
