The World No. 1 discussed his goals and provided analysis of Alcaraz and Djokovic’s withdrawals following his victory in the third round.

With Novak Djokovic and Carlos Alcaraz out of the current US Open, Jannik Sinner will be the player to watch in the fourth round. Currently a title candidate, the Italian won 6-1 6-4 6-2 over Australian Christopher O’Connell in the third round.

The World No. 1 discussed his goals and provided analysis of Alcaraz and Djokovic’s withdrawals following his victory in the third round.

“The first objective is to advance to the second week, after which the bar is continually raised. The opposition is becoming increasingly formidable, and every one of them is deserving of being present. Since we have witnessed so many unexpected matches, we are aware that tennis is an unpredictable sport in which nothing is taken for granted. Every match is hard, and we’ll see what happens in the next one, but you have to be concentrated at all times, he added. I consider what goes on on my side of the net.

Regardless of the outcome or how easy it seems, I think the journey is the most beautiful thing. Every day matters a lot, and I’m working hard to become a better player and person. The outcomes are a direct result of your performance on the track, and there are many hours to be spent on the court,” he continued.

Sinner’s victory in the third round was impressive. To demonstrate his goals, he won the first five games and 21 of the first 29 points.

In addition to winning five of O’Connell’s twelve service games, he finished with 15 aces and twice as many winners (46) as unforced errors (22).

O’Connell, meanwhile, stated, “I thought he was right on from the start. To be quite honest, I felt a little lost. He was all over me in every shot, and I felt like I had to do something with it. I was being choked by him.”
