Recent reports have surfaced suggesting that former Formula 1 legend Fernando Alonso has been dismissed from the sport following a significant surgery. However, upon thorough investigation, there is no credible evidence to support these claims. As of February 7, 2025, Alonso remains an active and integral part of the Formula 1 community, driving for Aston Martin.
In February 2021, Alonso was involved in a cycling accident in Switzerland, resulting in a fractured upper jaw. He underwent successful corrective surgery, during which two titanium plates were inserted to aid his recovery. Despite this setback, Alonso made a commendable return to Formula 1, driving for Alpine in the 2021 season. He continued to race with the titanium plates in place throughout the season, with plans to have them removed post-season.
In January 2022, Alonso confirmed that he had undergone a procedure to remove the titanium plates from his jaw, marking a full recovery from his earlier injury.
The rumors regarding Fernando Alonso’s departure from Formula 1 and concerns over his health are unfounded. He continues to be a formidable presence on the grid, inspiring fans and fellow drivers alike with his resilience and enduring talent.
